Obituary for Roy Harris

Visitation: 11 am Saint Augustine Catholic Church, 1371 Hamilton, St. Louis, MO 63112 Service: 12 noon Interment: Jefferson Barracks Cemetary (2pm) Mr. Roy Dean Harris was born in Mount Rose, Arkansas on November 15, 1942 to the late union of Deptha Harris and Daisy Campbell. He was the baby of four children of which his eldest brother, Lenzy Willie Harris, preceded him in death. Roy was partly reared in Mount Rose, Arkansas, until 1948 when his family moved to Saint Louis, Missouri. Also in 1948 Roy was baptized at Visitation Catholic Church. He attended elementary school at Visitation Catholic School and proceeded to graduate from Sumner High School on June 14, 1960. Soon after graduation, Roy moved to Logan Sport, Indiana with his sister for a few years and in December of 1963 Roy entered into the Armed Forces. He worked as a medic and was also awarded a Marksman medal while in the Army. After three years of duty for the Armed Forces Roy was honorably discharged on December 27, 1966. Roy then moved to Saint Louis, Missouri and he met Gloria Hubbard and they were the proud parents of three handsome boys, one who proceded him death, Ron. Roy was a wonderful father and even better grandfather. He was known to his kids as Pop and his grandkids named him PaPa. He was also a caring brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. And if you hear anyone call him MudPie just smile, because that was his name too. On Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at 4:34 pm, Roy, Pop, PaPa, Mudpie decided it was time to check out. He knew he had did his job on this Earth, he raised his boys, spoiled his grandkids, took a road trip to see his favorite sister, loved his brother, partied with his family on New Year’s Eve, took care of his nieces and nephews, and not to forget to mention, had good times in Fairground Park with his buddies. Roy, Pop, PaPa, Mudpie, fought a good fight! See Ya Later!
