Obituary for Robert Douglas

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Laurel Hill Cemetery at 10am Robert Lee Douglas, ibn (son of) Willie Roy Douglas and Louise Turner Douglas; July 5th 1952-December 16th 2011. During childhood he was involved in the church, and as an adult he reverted to Al- Islam to claim his Muslim identity from his birth, as acclaimed by his fore-parents, Adam/Eve (since the time of creation); where he remained a devout Muslim, until his return to Allah (God). Of his lineage: His son-Eric (TeyiarraL. Douglas 4/22/91); daughter-Erica (Amirah F. Douglas 1/21/03); and son- Ivan (Iyanna douglas 2/22/99, Christian Allen & Christopher Allen 8/28/97, Kay-cee I. White 8/8/00). Ivan is married to Tannika Douglas-(her kids names are Rontrell Gentry and Trevon Gentry); former wife of Robert- Gwendalyn. His siblings from: Louise T. Douglas/Cross: Thelma Mae Turner, Zakiyyah Johnice Ziyad Hyatt, William Douglas, Jr., Norris Douglas, Delores Douglas, and Asma Charlene Cross (with host of spouses and children and their grandchildren). A host of aunts/uncles and their children: From Sam Turner/wife: Uncle Mac, Uncle Louis, and the entire Turner family with a host of children and grand-great children); Aunt Emma Lou Duncan, Aunt Willie Lee Ferrell: (Samuel, Willie George, Mary Ethel (Donnal,Nina, Diedre, Connie with host of children and grandchildren); Taboo/Mickey: (Julian, Tasha,and Angela with of children and grandchildren); Edith: (Tyrone and Antonio); Rausan/Najlah: (Tariq, Shaheed, Rasheed, Rayya: (host of children and grandchildren); Walter Young/Georgia: (William (Son), Lizzie May: (the entire May family), Joyce, (Verlane, Debra, Dwayne, and Marvin with a host of spouses, children, grand/great-children) and relatives from surrounding cities. Robert enjoyed the out of doors and social gatherings. He was never afraid to venture outside of the comforts of his immediate neighborhood, to explore societal people, various traditions, and cultures. His goals and ambitions to travel didn’t limit his need for new learning and adventure. In fact he longed to make pilgrimage to the renowned place where Malik Shabazz, formerly known as Malcolm X, and trace the footsteps alongside with Muslims from various nations in the rituals of Hajj (a place of Mecca; where every Muslim is encouraged to attend).
