Obituary for Mittie Pearson

Services will be May 3, 2012 at 10:00 am. Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 2912 St. Louis Avenue 63106 Mittie Clara Gant was born in Augusta, Arkansas on October 14, 1915 to the union of Charlie and Susie Gant. Mittie was the third eldest of five siblings; Elsie, Stella, Beatrice and Roosevelt all await her in glory. Mittie and her siblings were sent to Bernie, Mo., where she resided until the age of 21, when she and little sister Elsie moved to St. Louis, MO. (She left the care of her twin boys, C.L and Ollie, to the Pearson family.) Mittie and Elsie both worked in candy and chicken factories, as well as domestic work on the Admiral Boat, which was located on the Mississippi River. Elsie remarried and moved to Detroit, MI., leaving Mittie to rear the children of a previous marriage (Beatrice, Walter, Robert and Metra Boykins). Mittie married Alexander Ollie Pearson in December of 1936 and to that union was born C.L., Ollie, Alexander, and Clara. She later met Mr. Leon Mosby (1940) and to that courtship, Harriett was born in 1941. Mittie joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church in 1936 under the leadership of the late Rev. Langford and served as a faithful member with unwavering loyalty until failing health. Our Lord called her to rest Friday, April 10,2012, while residing at the Northview Village Skilled Nursing Facility. She leaves behind to cherish her memory three children; Alexander, Clara and Harriett. Grandchildren; Angela Morgan (Samuel), Lisa Pearson, William Smith, Nathaniel Kelly Jr (Nicole), Tina (Randy Williams), LaShanda, Reginald, Keith, and a host of Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. To the many friends and acquaintances that she has touched throughout her years with us, we give honor to her loving spirit that has touched us all.
