The Life of Mary L. Mitchell was ordained by God to begin on February 24, 1944 in Geridge, Arkansas. She was the second child of eleven born to Anna Mae and Robert Lee Bailey. At the age of eleven, her parents moved to St. Louis, Missouri. Mary was preceded in death by both parents and one sister, Marlyn Jean. Mary gave her life to Christ at the Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Curtis Crosby. After meeting Willie Mitchell, a relationship blossomed that led to marriage. No children were born to this union. "Mitch" as he was called, preceded her in death. Mary received her primary education at Emerson School in the city of Saint Louis. After graduating from Soldan High School, she attended Harris Stowe Teachers College and St. Louis Community College at Forest Park. Mary was a dedicated worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in the Marketing Department with 32 years of service and 21 years of perfect attendance. Mary was blessed significantly when she became a grandmother. She loved each of them in a special way. Mary leaves an unforgettable legacy of love to her three daughters, Sylvania, Angela and Kim; eight grandchildren, Alexis Hunter-Nurse, Carlden Trotter, Kindra Trotter, Eric Danner, Keanna Trotter, Cortez Trotter, Ashley Hinton and Amber Hinton; sixteen great-grandchildren; one aunt, Letha M. Scott of Milwaukee, WI; four brothers, Clinton, Robert, Zachary and Donald; five sisters, Velma (James), Joyce, Barbara, Glenda and Marva; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
