Obituary for Mary "Dee" Boyd

Mary Dolores Boyd was born July 11, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri, the second of three daughters born to Saul John Wesley Boyd and Mary Rachel Boyd. Her parents and sister, Finnus Wesley Harding preceded her in death. Growing up in the historic “Ville” she was educated in the St. Louis Public School System and a graduate of Charles Sumner High School attaining high academic honors. She attended Stowe Teachers College before a life long condition affected her ability to continue and complete her degree in education. Mary accepted Christ at a young age and was a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church where she served as a Brownie/Girl Scout Leader, Gospel Choir member and a member of the Missionary Society, the Rachel Circle. Mary, affectionately known as “Dee” , loved children especially her nieces and nephews, taking care of and seeing to their needs and they have often considered her like their second mother. After a lifelong afflicting condition, Mary departed this life on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 9:05a.m. at The Cedars of Town and Country. Mary leaves to cherish her loving memory; her daughter Vivian Raomi Moore; son, Ralph Everett Boyd; grandchildren, Robyn Yvette Moore, Rhonda Bennett Moore and Ralph Everett Boyd, Jr.; sister, Ozella Kate Hayes; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
