Obituary for Mary Anderson

Mary Jean Beatrice was the first born to Oscar Stegall Sr. and Helen Conway on October 11, 1944 in Kinloch Missouri.  Her father Oscar Sr. and brother John L. preceded her in death.   Mary attended Kinloch Public Schools and graduated from Kinloch Senior High School. Mary was also active in sports at school.  Upon graduation, Mary went on to work at Christian Northwest Hospital as a nurses aid. Mary ran into (on purpose) a gentleman at the BBQ of her dear friend Zenobia. Two years later on June 5, this meeting turned into a marriage of 47 years to Melvin Anderson.  They were married at the home of her Aunt Rausby Edwards. To this union, three beautiful children, Troy, Trena and Tenelle were born.  After the birth of her second child, Mary devoted her life to raising her children whom she loved dearly. Mary first accepted Christ at First Baptist church of Kinloch under the leadership of Rev. Walter L. Johnson and later baptized in 1966 at Page Blvd. Church of Christ under the leadership of Bro. Graham McGill and was very active in the church. Mary volunteered at the food pantry for many years and also donated to local charities, but her greatest joy was babysitting Zasmine, Zandria and Xavian Johnson and also Brooke and Reggie Thedford. She was fondly known as "Miss  Mary”. Mary was short in stature but her caring, honest and humble spirit more than made up for it which is the reason she was loved by so many. God saw fit to give Mary her Mansion, Robe and Crown on October 30, 2013 at 12:16 p.m. in the comforts of her own home. Mary leaves behind to cherish her memories: A Loving mother, Helen Stegall; Devoted husband, Melvin; three children, Troy, Trena (Clayton III) Harris and Tenelle; two grandchildren, Precious and Clayton IV; two sisters, Alice Joyce Stegall and Sandra Turner; three brothers, Oscar Jr., Clinton and Thomas Stegall; three brother-in-laws, Carl (Peggy) Anderson, George (Betty) Anderson and Reginald Anderson; four sister-in-laws, Shirlene Stegall; Claudette Cadamey, Patricia (Ronald) Fletcher and Linda Anderson.  Also a host of nieces, nephews cousins and dear friends.
