Obituary for Marvin Byas

Visitation: Monday, July 25, 2011 10am - 12pm St. Alphonsus "Rock" Church Funeral Mass: 12pm Interment: Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Marvin H. Byas passed away on the 18th of July, 2011 at the age of 77. Marvin was born in Crystal City, Mo on June 30, 1934. He was one of ten children born to the union of the late Joseph E. Byas and Cornie Mosby. Eight children were reared to adulthood. Marvin attended Douglass High School in Festus, Mo and graduated in 1953. His passion for sports drove him to excel in many years in the sports arena. He tried out for the Browns Baseball team in 1954 and there will always be a lifelong story of how he and one of his lifelong friends won a track and field competition in Columbia, MO with just two of them on the team. Later in life he was an avid golfer. Marvin attended Central State University in Wilberforce, OH and a life member of the Douglas Alumni Association. In 1964, he entered into Holy Matrimony with Beverly Spencer, one child was born. He later remarried Paulette Fouche. While serving in his country in the United States Air Force, he was injured and placed on disability. He worked at the Federal Record Center where he retired in 1981. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings; Henry, Deloris, Charles, Joseph Jr., Wayne, Richard Byas and one nephew, Donald Byas, Jr.
