Obituary for Kim Swayne

Kim Rochelle Goins Swayne entered this life on September 15, 1957 as the eldest child of Joan F. Thomas and Palmer B. Goins. Kim was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, as a member of Unity United Methodist Church (fka Webster Groves United Methodist). During her Christian journey, Kim became an active member of First Baptist Church of Valley Park, where she served as the church secretary and sang in the choir. King Jesus was one of her favorite hymns. In recent years, Kim returned home to Unity to worship. Kim was a Webster Groves native as her family was rooted in the community. Kim earned her bachelors in Psychology at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO and was a fourth generation college graduate. Kim’s career was dedicated to the financial industry and most recently she worked at Edward Jones. Shortly after graduation, Kim was married and to this union, the lights of her life, Iheoma Yardley and Yara Limunga were born. Kim was a patient and kind mother who loved her children immensely and unconditionally. Later Kim was joined in holy matrimony to Timothy Eugene Swayne on October 19, 2002. Tim and Kim were the definition of “road dogs”! They truly enjoyed each other’s company, and loved each other deeply. Kim was an excellent cook, an avid gardener and a thrift store zealot! She had a keen eye for finding diamonds in the rough, and these diamonds were proudly and elegantly displayed throughout their home. Kim loved to laugh and enjoyed the company of her family and friends. Even more, Kim and Tim enjoyed spending time doting over their grandson, Khristian Ryan Osuegbu. Kim’s endless caring, sweet spirit, and love for her family made her all the more special. She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved husband ~ Timothy; son ~ Iheoma Y. Osuegbu; daughter ~ Yara L. Osuegbu; grandson ~ Khristian R. Osuegbu; mother ~ Joan F. Thomas; father and step-mother ~ Palmer and Ruth Goins; brother ~ Palmer B. (Tracey) Goins; sister ~ Meredith (Darryl) Anderson; mother-in-law ~ Ann Swayne; nieces ~ Angelic, Palmesha, Anna Marie Goins, and Auja Kelly; nephews ~ Palmer “PK” Goins, Darryn and Trae Anderson; aunt ~ Barbara (Vassar) Keys; uncle ~ Robert Thomas; great aunt ~ Bertha Fantroy; great nephew ~ Jeremiah Dedmond; and host of cousins, extended family and special friends.
