Obituary for Julius Rivers

Visitation: Tuesday, January 12, 2010 10:00 am-10:45am Granberry Mortuary, 8806 Jennings Station Road. Service: 11:00 am. Rev. Carolyn R. Coleman, Officiating. - Life Reflections - On February 28, 1943, Julius Rivers was born to the late Mollie Francis Anderson-Rivers and the late Julius ‘Bud’ Nichols in Pickens, Mississippi. He was the third of eight children. Julius was a loving father and a devoted husband. Julius was always willing to lend a helping hand. Julius confessed a hope in Christ in 1965 at the Good Shepherd Church. He was joined in holy matrimony to Fannie Harris-Rivers and then moved to St. Louis in 1965 from Mississippi and to this union six children were born: John, Annette, Kenneth, Georgia, Gail and Rebecca Rivers, all from St. Louis, MO. Julius was preceded in death by his son, Percy L. Boon; his mother, Mollie; his father Julius; three (3) sisters, Lillie Mae Rivers, Arestine Gibson and a beautiful baby girl who lived such a brief time; and a nephew, Curtis McKinney, Jr. Julius passed gently into the arms of Jesus on January 1, 2010. He will be missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him He leaves to cherish his memories: his former wife- Fannie Rivers; six (6) children- John Rivers, Annette Rivers, Kenneth Rivers, Georgia Rivers, Gail (Charles) Murray and Rebecca Rivers; two (2) sisters- Bettie (Curtis) McKinney and Flora Bell Rivers; two (2) brothers- L.C. (Treola) Rivers and Willie Rivers, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
