Obituary for Joseph Hawkins

As for a man, his days are like grass. As a flower in the field, so he flourishes. When the wind passes over it, it is gone, and the place is remembered no more. But the mercy of the Lord is forever lasting to everlastings, upon all who fear Him. Psalms 103:15-17 Joseph Lewis Hawkins was born July 13, 1949 to Mr. Lee Willard Hawkins, Sr. and Ms. Elzora Brumfield Hawkins in St. Louis, MO. He was the youngest child born to this union. Both parents and brother Rev. Lee W. Hawkins, Jr. preceded him in death. Joseph was a product of the St. Louis Public School System. He was a very popular young man among his friends and relatives, as he continued his education at Ranken Technical College. He always lived a somewhat sheltered life, because of a physical disability. Most of his life he lived with one of his parents or the other. He was a free spirited person. He made his own rules about how he lived his life, and that’s just what he did. His greatest love was boxing. Joseph departed this life on November 19, 2012 at St. Louis University Hospital after a short illness. He leaves to cherish his memories one sister, Madlyn Hale of Dallas, TX. One sister in law, Ethel Hawkins, 5 nieces, 3 nephews, and cousins, other relatives and friends. We thank the Lord for Joseph we hope and pray with all of our hearts that he made his peace with GOD.
