Obituary for Horace "Mac" McGilberry

Horace McGilberry (Affectionately Known as Mac) was born to Mary Heidelberg and George Mccoy on December 6, 1954. He was preceded in death by both grandparents and his father George McCoy. He was educated in the Mississippi School System and joined the United States Marine Corps in July 1972 and served until 1976, earning a Meritorious Lance Corporal Rank. After serving his country, he relocated to Denver 1977. In 1978, he met Deborah Davis (Jackson) and later married in May 1979. He worked at Frankel’s Typewriter and Ribbon Co. from 1977 to 1979. He joined the Denver Police Department in 1979 to 1986 and also worked at Frito-Lay in Denver from 1993 to 2002 when his health began to fail. Horace departed this life December 30, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Horace is survived by his mother Mary McGilberry; two sons ~ Alfonso (Kelly) Strickland and Jamal (Nadiyah) McGilberry; two daughters ~ Rheiko Davis and Tangela Strickland; four sisters ~ Bertha Young, Felicia Minor, Sherry McGilberry, Michelle (Shawn) McGilberry-Moore; six brothers ~ Homer (Jackie), Gaines (Anita), Randolph, Charles, Arthur and Anthony; eighteen grandchildren ~ Dejah, Isaiah, Amina, Tajae, Jasmine, Sandra, Josiah, Kendra, Uzziah, Alfonso Jr., Morgan, Alfonso III, Alfonso IIII, Alfonso IV, Zanesha, Nija, Charvis, Jaylin; A Dear friend Queen Ramos and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
