Obituary for Herman Jerrod Sr.

Visitation:     Monday, April 21, 2008    9am    Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1444 S. Compton, St. Louis, Mo. Service:       10am Interment:     1pm  Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery   Herman Mozell Jerrod, Sr. was born August 27, 1930 , in North Little Rock, Arkansas to the union of Tom Jerrod Sr. and Lessie Dotson Jerrod.   Herman was the seventh child of twelve.   His parents, one son, four sisters, and five brothers preceded him in death. Herman was educated in the Arkansas School System.    He joined the Army and was a Master Sergeant for thirteen years. Herman later moved to St. Louis, Missouri in the late fifties.   He was employed as a Skilled Steel Pourer for Banner Iron and Scullin Steel Company.    In 1981 , he married Gladys Sanders, and to this union two sons were born.   His youngest, Richard preceded him in death. Herman loved life, his family and friends.    If you think of him, you would probably see him smiling.   He was nicknamed “ Bam ” and later, “ Cadillac ”.   Whenever you called him, he was always willing to help someone in any way he could.   He made time to talk to you and spend time with you.   He was a God-fearing man who had a deep faith that was shared with   many. He leaves to cherish his memory, one son , Herman Jr., of St. Louis, Missouri; two daughters , Diane Shannon, of Los Angeles, California, and Empress Sanders of St. Louis, Missouri; one devoted brother , Daniel Jerrod Sr. of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister , Dorothy Fair, of North Little Rock, Arkansas; one sister-n-law , Estelle Jerrod of St. Louis, Missouri;   four grandchildren ; four nieces , twelve nephews , and a host of great-nieces/ nephews , cousins and friends .   Joe Bonnett   will also cherish the memory of his dear friend. Herman, Bam, Sergeant, Dad, Cadillac…. We love you and we will miss you.
