Obituary for Eugene Hunt

Eugene "Gene" Hunt was born March 17, 1936 in New Madrid, Missouri to the union of the late Reola Jones and Andrew Hunt.  He was a resident of the Poplar Bluff area most of his life and was known for his love of cooking throughtout the community. Eugene was a veteran of the U. S. Army where he served from 1955 to 1957 and was honorably discharged.  He was a retired Culinary Instructor for Mingo Job Corps Center near Puxico. In 1975, Eugene was united in holy matrimony to Dorothy Matthews in Poplar Bluff, MIssouri.  To this union, they were blessed with five (5) children. He leaves to cherish his memory:  his loving wife, Dorothy Hunt; six (6) children, Arleta Shaw, Cedric Lewis, James Matthews, and Douglas Matthews all of Poplar Bluff, MO, Bettye Matthews and Doris Evans of Chicago, IL; thirty-one (31) grandchildren; thirty-five (35) great-grandchildren; and one (1) great-great grandchild Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm on     Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church,  913 Garfield St.  Poplar Bluff, MO  63901 followed by the funeral services at 1pm. Interment:     Poplar Bluff City Cemetery
