Obituary for Ernest Johnson

Services will be Monday April 30, 2012 at West Side Missionary Baptist Church, 4675 Page Blvd., St.Louis, MO. 63113. Visitation beginning at 9:00 am-9:45 with funeral at 10:00 am. Burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with military honors. On September 17th, 1922 in Rayville, LA.; Andrew Jr. and Bertha Sullivan gave birth to their first born the eldest of 13 children, Ernest Johnson. He received his early education in Gould Arkansas where the family eventually settled. In May 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and dutifully served his country until the war ended when he was then honorably discharged. He attended A M &N College in Pine Bluff, AR; he then moved to St. Louis, Missouri and continued his education at Harris Business College. In the early 50’s, Ernest joined Westside Missionary Baptist Church and in February, 1961, he was married to Norma Davis. To this union, two daughters were born. He faithfully served the church as a Trustee, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, headed the New Members Ministry as teacher and served in many other positions. In 1982 he married his current wife Mae Toombs, this union was blessed with a blended family. Ernest made his transition from this earthly realm to his heavenly mansion on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 4:43 a.m. His parents, daughter (Claudine), brother’s Andy, HP, KD, Dan, Raymond, Artis, and Sister Helen; all preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories: His devoted wife Mae, daughters, Linda, Lisa, Barbara, Ivy (Joe), Pebbles, Cheryl (Bryan); sons Damon, Michael, Orin, Arthur Jr. (Karen), Richard and James; Two brothers, Donald (Restee), Andrew (Helen) one sister in law, Peggy (Earl) one brother in law Michael (Karen); and many grand-children, great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
