Obituary for Dorothy Miller

Funeral Services for Mrs. Dorothy Mae Holloway Miller will be held on Monday, August 2, 2010 at North Hills Church of Christ, 1243 North Hills Lane, Cool Valley, MO. Visitation will be at 10:00 am and Funeral Service begining at 11:00 a.m. with Evangelist Roy Morgan officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Lake Charles Cemetery, 7775 St. Charles Rock Road, St. Louis, MO. Dorothy Holloway Miller was born March 18, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the third child born to the union of, Edgar Burton Holloway, Sr. and Willette Fantroy Holloway. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; John Holloway and Edgar Holloway, two sisters; Mary Harvey and Shirley Edwards. Dorothy confessed her belief in Jesus Christ at a very early age. Later in life she rededicated her life to Christ and was baptized and became a member of North Hills Church of Christ. Dorothy received her education through the St. Louis Public School system. She graduated from Sumner High School Class of 1950 and attend Stowe Teachers College. Dorothy was united in Holy Matrimony to Hines. She was the proud loving mother of six children. Two of her sons preceded her in death, Leroy Holloway and Stephen Holloway. She was also a honored grandmother and great grandmother. Three of her grandchildren preceded her in death, Fay D. Ealy, Melvin Holloway and Angela Holloway. Dorothy worked in the field of Food Sanitation. Her most memorable moments of working was being side by side with her late sister Shirley Edwards at Ascension Catholic School Cafeteria. She loved serving the children, whom she simply adored. Dorothy retired from Ascension Catholic School in 1998. Dorothy was full of compassion. She was gifted with a unique approach to life and she lived it well. She has a loving, kind and gentle spirit with a keen sense of humor. She loved and enjoyed her family and we love her. Dorothy Holloway Miller departed this life on Saturday, July 24, 2010 in the comfort of her home. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her loving memory, her husband, Hines, two sons, Joseph (Jennifer) and Juan; two daughters, Diane(James) and Jnay (Moagg); eighteen(18) grandchildren, Thirty-four (34) great grandchildren, four sisters, Bettye(Leyland), Marlene Robert), Delores(Horace), and Denise; one brother, James(Marion); a special loving cousin (sister) Margaret, her puppy “Todur”, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
