Ann Louise Beasley-Wilson was born October 16, 1916 to the union of Henry and Emma Beasley in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She was the fourth of seven children. Her husband and son preceded her in death. Granny as she was affectionately called by all professed her hope in Christ at an early age. Granny was a member of Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. L.T. Moore. Granny later moved her membership to the Progressive M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Joseph D. Linton. Granny was inducted into the Epsilon Chapter of the Progressive Ladies of Distinction in 1977. Granny served faithfully on the Adult Usher Board for over 50 years and as supervisor of the Junior Ushers until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Granny’s belief in God gave her the ability to show us how a Godly women dealt with adversity. Granny was always calm and peaceful. You would only hear her hum, pray and sing her way through. Granny’s strong family values and independence has been passed on through five generations. She always instructed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to put God first in all that you do. This was shown in her daily walk. Granny was employed with Universal Direct Mail for 19 years and later with Cliff Kelly Mailing Company where she retired after 20 years of service. Granny had many talents which included singing, playing the drums, cooking and doing hair. Granny also enjoyed watching wrestling, gun smoke, the raffle man and growing plants. Memories remain with her children Abdul and Deborah, sister Addie Beasley (Chicago, Illinois), 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren a host of nieces and nephews and her Progressive M.B. Church Family.
