Tommy Douglas

July 20, 1963 — July 24, 2015

Tommy Lee Douglas was born July 20, 1963, to the proud parents, Betty and James Douglas Sr. Tommy was the youngest of 12 children. He received his education in the St. Louis Public School District. Attending: Attucks, L ’Overture, Hodgen and graduating high school in 1982 from McKinley High School. Tommy was a great man whose love and admiration for helping others was evident throughout his walk on this side of earth. Most notably known as “Doug”, the family and community mechanic. He began working on cars at the age of 8 with his mentor Charles Hester. Working on cars was his passion. There wasn’t a car he wasn’t able to repair. Tommy also loved to DJ where he was known as “Dr. Bopp”, playing music and throwing parties to bring family and friends together for a good time. Tommy was a stern and fun man. His “no” meant “no” and his “yes” meant “yes”. He corrected those he loved through loud and deep words. He was a gentle, loving giant. He was a father to many, a loyal brother to his siblings and a great uncle and friend to others. He fought a good fight and left swiftly with the peace of knowing that he was honorable and brave. Preceding him in death is his parents: James Sr. and Betty Douglas; Sisters: Emma Jean Douglas, Carolyn Douglas and Dorothy Douglas-McAllister; brother: James Douglas Jr. Tommy leaves to cherish his memories: Daughter: Tanshell Douglas; Sons: Mario Weaver (Candice) and LaTommy Blair; (14) Grandchildren; Sisters: Louise Tucker (Sam), Bernice, and Geraldine; Brothers: Robert Douglas Sr., Danny Douglas (Gloria), Jerry Douglas, Christopher Douglas (Deborah); Brother-In-Law: William McAllister (Dorothy); Sisters/Nieces: Belinda Douglas, Tracy Douglas, Berthetta Douglas and Kibya Douglas; Step children: Evelyn Williams (Seven), James Blair, Donovan, Patrick, Dwayne, Deon, and Larry.
