Samuel Milton Wallace as born in Saint Louis, Missouri on November 29, 1931, the seventh of thirteen children of Rutherford C. Wallace, Sr. and Bertha Mae Wallace. Both parents (who were ordained bishops), seven brothers, three sisters, sons, Darvin Wallace and Herbert Chalmers, all preceded him death. Samuel completed his education in the St. Louis Public Schools and graduated from Sumner High School in 1949. He later attended Business School for a brief period of time before being drafted into the United States Army and serving in Germany during the Korean War. After returning home from the war, Samuel became an assembly worker for companies that included: General Motors Corporation, McDonnell Douglas Aircraft and Hussmann Refrigeration. He also worked for the St. Louis Housing Authority prior to his twenty-five year career as a bus driver for Bi-State Transportation Company. Upon retiring from Bi-State at age sixty-eight, Samuel became an employee of St. Louis City, driving a shuttle for the downtown courts and later working in in City Hall until becoming ill in November 2015. A talented musician, Samuel began playing piano at age five, eventually becoming the pianist for the True Spiritual Church of God where his father pastored. He was baptized by his dad at an early age and frequently accompanied him on out-of–town preaching engagements. Samuel later played with Albert “Blues Boy” King and other local artists. Several years ago, Samuel began attending the Greater Pentecostal Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Terence Coleman; about five years ago, he became a faithful member of the church.
