Julie Robertson was born on March 10, 1922 in Houlka, Mississippi to Jimmie (Buster) and Sarah Harris. Her mother and father, seven sisters, Blanche, Linnie, Dora, Juanita, Sarah, Ethel Mae, Sophie, one brother, George, and husband, Bishop Arzell Robertson preceded her in death. Julie was united in Holy Matrimony September 19, 1939. to this union was born one son, Napoleon. Julie was educated in the Mississippi Public School System. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at the Center Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Julie and Arzell later moved to St. Louis in the mid 40’s and joined the Newstead Baptist Church. Later she became a member of the Willing Workers Christian Redeeming Spiritualist Church under the leadership of Rev. Hampton Minor. She became First Lady of the church when her husband, Bishop Arzell Robertson became the pastor in 1964. Mother Robertson was a precious jewel in the church. Her commitment to the youth choir, cooking, cleaning, a wonderful trustee, and a great caretaker of the old, sick and the children. No task was too great or small. She was the true definition of the word ‘servant”. She was everyone's’ Aunt Jewel. Mother Robertson served faithfully for over 60 years under Rev. Hampton Minor, Bishop Arzell Robertson, Rev. Charles Robinson and Bishop Debora Morris until her death. On Tuesday, evening Mother Julie Robertson stepped from this life into the eternal arms of God. She leaves to cherish her memory: one son ~ Napoleon; one granddaughter ~ Alexius; one great granddaughter ~ Jace; one brother ~ Jimmie L.; one sister ~ Lenora Butler; two daughters-in-law ~ Gwen Cogshell and Esther Fuller; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
