Joanna Lorraine "Mudder" Collins was born on February 20, 1930 in Saint Louis, Missouri. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Wade Funeral Home, 4800 Natural Bridge, Saint Louis, Missouri. Interment followed at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Joanna was the second child and only daughter of Jesse Collins and Ethel (Williams) Collins. Her oldest brother, Raymond Collins, Sr. preceded her in death. Growing up in the historic "Ville" along with her brother Jesse Collins, Jr. and oldest nephew Raymond Collins, Jr. she attended the historic Simmons Elementary School and was a most proud graduate of Sumner High School Class of 1947. A lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church, Joanna served as President (Term) and was a loyal member of the Gospel Choir as well as a faithful member of Antioch Deaconess board. Her favorite charity was the Antioch food pantry. Joanna had a zest for life that endeared her to many, many friends and even strangers who crossed her path. In 1995, she retired from the Human Development Corporation after 15 years as an administrative assistant. Never one to be idle, Joanna took on several part time jobs just to be around people. Following a long illness, Joanna departed this life on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 5:00 a.m. in Saint Louis, Missouri surrounded by her family. Joanna leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her loyal children, Jeffery (Portertena), LaDonne, Scott (Calesema), David, Dwight, Jr. (Nita), her grandchildren, Adrianne, Dwight III (Amber), Bobby, Jr.(Tonya), Candice, Joycelyn, Jeffery Will; seven great grandchildren; her beloved brother, Jesse,Jr.( Ouida Mae), her sister-in-law, Patricia, her "favorite" son-in-law, Bobby, Sr., her nephew that was more like a brother, Raymond, Jr.(Lucille); numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many great friends.
