Ida Lester

Ida Lee Lester was born on December 16, 1929 in Vaughn, Mississippi to Henry Barton and Minnie Mae Williams. She was the first born of eight children. Ida's parents: her son Thomas Lester, daughter Doris Lester (Brown), James Earl Anderson, Cevin Sharboneau, Rueben Anderson, all proceeded her in death.
Ida was educated in the Mississippi Public School System. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age under the patronage of late Reverend Washington of the Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
Ida was united in holy matrimony to Theoda Lester Sr. on December 7,7945. To this union three sons and four daughters were born. Two children preceded her in death: Doris Lester (Brown), Thomas Lester (Kadumu) Jacqueline Lester.
She was an avid pool player, enjoyed long walks in the park, dancing, fishing, singing, and listening to Reggae and the
•
Blues. She could be heard doing impersonations of Ray
Charles. She was affectionally known as 'Gr and Mama Lester' during her longtime membership and support of the Organization for Black Struggle.
Ida leaves to cherish her memories: five children, Theoda Lester Jr. (Kalimu Endesha), Saundra Armstrong, Denise Muhammad, (Kim) Judy Bratton,(Cecil) and Lajuan Lester. Three brothers and two sisters: William Anderson, Arma Lewis, Ann Starks, eighteen grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren, several great, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
