Carrie Vincent

October 18, 1930 — June 24, 2023

Carrie Y Vincent, nee Young was born to Wilton Young and Cleordia Young, nee Daugherty, on October 18th 1930 in Monroe Louisiana. Their first born, followed by her younger brother Richard Young, she was a bright student throughout her formative years; graduating High School early and entered Grambling University a year a head of schedule. After graduation, she moved to St Louis where she met and fell in love with who was to be her husband of over 50 years; Henry Leo Vincent.

This union resulted in the birth of their daughter Deirdre Vincent Woodard, born in 1954 shortly after Carrie graduated with her Masters of Education from Saint Louis University. She went on to teach in the St Louis Public School system for over 40 years, instilling the fundamentals of the English language into generations of young St Louisans.

A loving wife and mother, she was an avid traveler, reader, and active member in the church. Carrie gave generously of her time most notably through her work with the United Methodist Women as a member, then leader of Sodality, and then as president of United Methodist Women of Union Memorial United Methodist Church.
Carrie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Wilton and Cleordia Young, brother Richard Young, husband Henry Leo Vincent, and her daughter Deirdre Woodard.
She is survived by her granddaughter Karolyn Woodard, her nieces Roselyn Walker, Rochele Young, Laura Stewart, and her nephew Richard W Young; her grand nieces and nephews Aaron Walker, Cecelia Bishop, Elishva Blevins, Alayna Stewart, Reiko Mayes, Rodrick Render, Jamir Blevins, Aaron Walker Jr, Aayden Walker, and Aashton Walker.
