Alvin Hall

September 14, 1947 — February 17, 2014

ALVIN CONSTON HALL was born September 14, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the union of Roy Lee Hall and Sallie Johnson Hall. He was the oldest of three children born of that marriage, and departed this life Monday, February 17, 2014, at Barnes Jewish Hospital after a valiant battle with colorectal cancer. Both his parents preceded him in death. Alvin accepted Christ as his savior at a young age, and attended Southern Union Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverends J. D. Linton and R. V. Madison. Alvin attended and graduated from Vashon High School, where he excelled on the Swimming Team. He attended and graduated from Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with a B.A. in mathematics. He later received a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Colorado, at Boulder. After completing his education, Alvin worked for the Federal Reserve Bank, and for the IBM Corporation, and traveled extensively on business for these and other companies throughout the United States, and Europe. In October 1991, Alvin was united in holy matrimony to Donna Thompson Hall. To this union two children were born, Ashaki and Akili. Alvin was a man who truly, dearly, loved his two children, and did everything he could to give them a “leg-up” in life. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna T. Hall, daughter Ashaki Hall, son Akili Hall, his brother, Clyde Lee Hall (Karen), his sister Idaline L. Hall; 4 aunts, Shernervia Johnson Welton of Greenville, MS, Thelma Thompson, Vivian Ezell and Mary Riney (Donald); 3 uncles, Charlie Herbert Hall III, Joey Norris of Chicago, IL, and Albert Deavens of Aberdeen, MS; 3 nieces, Jeloni Hall, Tasha Thompson and Thelma G. Thompson; sister-in-law, Margaret Thompson; brother-in-law, Calvin Thompson; nephew, Brandon Thompson (Anna); and a host of cousins, other family members, friends, and acquaintances.
