Alpha Bell

Mrs. Alpha Omega Peeples Bell, age 92 passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2010 in Saint Louis, MO. A Funeral Mass was held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Mother of John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4330 Shreve Avenue, St. Louis, MO with Father Jeff Vomund officiating. Interment was on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Churchill Cemetery in Eupora, Mississippi. Alpha Omega was born on February 2, 1918 in Eupora, Mississippi to the proud parents of Will and Lela Peeples. She and her family relocated to Jackson, Tennessee where she was raised. Alpha graduated from Merry High School in Jackson, Tennessee in 1938. Alpha professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was a member of the St. Elizabeth Mother of John the Baptist Catholic Church until her passing. Alpha moved to St. Louis in 1942. She marred Luther Gilmore Bell, giving birth to two sons, Kenneth and Stephen. She received her nursing license from St. Louis Council on Community Nursing in 1950. She was a licensed practicing nurse for fifty-five plus years. Alpha found a career at Lutheran Medical Center as a LPN III working in the nursery taking care of new born babies which she loved dearly. She fully retired from nursing in 1987. Alpha leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory; two beloved sons, Kenneth G. (Dale) and Stephen C. (Ann), two sisters-in-law; Bernice (sister) and Elese, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, fifteen step-grandchildren, her special niece; Elma C. Ray and a host of loving relatives and friends including her beloved Dr. Kantor who took great care of her for twenty-five plus years.
