Obituary for Walter Swopshire

Walter Swopshire, Jr. was born October 29, 1936 to Ruby (Walker) and Walter Swopshire in Portageville, Missouri.  His parents and sister preceded him in death.  He grew up in a home filled with love with his sister Margie.   Walter received his formal education and graduated from high school.  At an early age Walter accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.   Walter served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1957 and received an Honorable Discharge after serving his country faithfully.  He also worked for the City of Saint Louis as a sanitation engineer where he retired in 1999.   Walter met the love of his life Loretta Turner they were united in Holy Matrimony on September 15, 1980.  This union welcomed three children, Arthur, Relda and Clifford.  Arthur preceded him in death.   Walter enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren whom they affectionately called him “Poke”.  Poke’s grandchildren loved his banana pudding, white rice and extra sweet kool-aid.   On Friday, March 3, 2017 Walter went to be with Our Heavenly Father.   Walter leaves to mourn his passing and forever cherish his sweet memories his loving and devoted wife Loretta; children, Relda and Clifford; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews other dear relatives and friends.  Special friends Robert and Jean Jeffrey
