Obituary for Maiya Williams

Maiya Latish Williams was born October 27, 1983 in St. Louis, Missouri to the proud parents of Tyrone Williams, Sr. and Mary Williams. She was the youngest of three children. Maiya attended both University City and St. Louis Public Schools. She furthered her education by attending Patricia Stevens Business College. Maiya was an honor student her entire education. Maiya was baptized in Jesus' Name and filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues at Bethesda Temple Church in 2016 under the pastorate of Pastor Julian Johnson. Maiya was known as a “sweet soul” and loved family gatherings. She loved quality time with her children. She had a warm personality and was loved by many. Her favorite hobbies were shopping, cooking and playing board games, crossword puzzles and Sudoku which challenged her mind. Maiya enjoyed playing video games with her children. Maiya was lovingly known as “Miya-Poo” by her family, a name given to her by her Aunt Doris Yvette Johnson, who preceded her in death February 20, 2016. Maiya Latish made her transition on October 24, 2017. She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother ~ Mary Williams; father Tyrone Williams (Bessie); two sons ~ Tysean Williams and Tariq Williams; three daughters ~ Jada Williams, Khanye Williams and Kamari Williams; two brothers ~ Tyrone Williams, Jr. and Tony Williams; three aunts ~ Deborah Taylor (Freddie), Angela Riley (Gary); Mary Sim-Cooper; one great aunt ~ Euralean Simmons; five uncles ~ John Sinkfield, Michael Sinkfield (April), Ronald Williams, Kenneth Williams and Melvin Sims; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends; one special cousin ~ Robert “Rocky” S. Johnson, III (Paris).
