Darryl Leon Craig was born on September 16th, 1960, in Saint Louis, Missouri to Raymond De’Berry and Dorothy Marie Craig. He departed this life on Monday, December 12th, 2022. He preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Jerome Craig.
Darryl accepted Christ and was reunited and baptized at the House of the Anointed Christian Assembly under the Leadership of Pastor Kenneth Steele, Sr. He was a faithful member and often volunteered his time at the church.
Darryl attended Elliott School in Saint Louis, MO. It was there he developed a love for basketball. He hated to lose and if he did, he would take his ball and basketball net and go home. He graduated from Central High School where he was a member of the varsity basketball team. He was called “Frodie”, because of his flawless afro and later he earned another nickname, “Barry White”. He was a faithful member of the 10 Black Men's Organization and the Schoolyard Gang.
Darryl was employed at Washington University, in St. Louis, MO for over 28 years as a Research Technician. He enjoyed working various research projects and the quest to discover a cure for Parkinson's disease.
In 2010 Darryl met his soul mate, Lesia, and they were married on November 7th, 2020. They shared many meaningful and happy times together, whether camping, traveling, dining out or attending NBA games. They also enjoyed hosting parties and family events.
Darryl had many interests and hobbies which included deejaying, fishing, camping, and barbecuing: the great outdoors was his second home. He was an avid sports fan and spent numerous hours watching televised NBA games. His favorite team was the Golden State Warriors. One of his favorite pastimes was watching a variety of movies: science fiction, action movies and westerns.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Lesia Craig, son Darryl Laron Craig, daughter Brittany Washington, mother-in-law Frances Sinclair, stepsons Jeremiah and Jarvis Sinclair, six grandchildren, two brothers Sidney Craig and Jermaine (Renee) Craig, two sisters, Rhonda Clark and Karen (Daniel) Bland, sister-in-law Katherine Craig, Aunt Barbara Ann Jones, nieces, nephews, cousins and two lifelong friends Charles Lane and Earlest Johnson.
