Obituary for Charlene Fenderson

On February 1, 1929, Charlene Kemp was born to Mr. Charlie A. Kemp and Lucille (Spruill) Kemp in Columbus, Mississippi. She was the first of six children. Charlene attended Hardy-Bluff Elementary and graduated from Hunt High School. At an early age she began studying God’s Word. In her mid-twenties she left the south to start a new life north in East Saint Louis, Illinois. There she found work in retail sales. In June the summer of 1955 Charlene met the love of her life Robert (Bobby) Fenderson and they were blessed with five children. On July 14, 1996 Charlene symbolized her dedication to Jehovah by water baptism. Even though she loved her family, Jehovah was truly her first love. She always spoke of the promise of the New World. Charlene would read her Bible day in and day out. Before her health failed she pioneered 70 hours per month. We will always remember her quiet manner, words of encouragement, the hugs and kisses and her beautiful smile. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Twana Jean Fenderson-Smith; brother, Robert Lewis Crowford and two great grandsons, Tereze L. Fenderson, Jr. and Dartreze Fenderson. She leaves to mourn her passing and forever cherish her sweet memories: loving and devoted daughters ~ Robin Fenderson-Hall (Joe), Kem L. Fenderson, Jeannette (Walter) Johnson and Diana Allmond-Kenny of Cincinnati, Ohio; loving sons ~ Robert (Carisa) Fenderson and Thomas Gene Fenderson; five step children; twentytwo grandchildren; fifty-five great grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; two sisters ~ Lessie T. Boyd of Chicago, IL and Bessie Ruth of San Antonio, TX; two brothers ~ Joe Lewis Crowford of Chicago, IL and Kevin Crowford of Cardova, TN; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other dear relatives and friends.
